We all love to travel. And we enjoy discovering new regions and unspoiled places, like beautiful Croatia and Vietnam. While relatively new on the world travel map, today they are thriving travel destinations. And both are now known for offering holistic healing retreats.
What a miracle! When you walk these lands today in peace and serenity, enjoying their healing pristine nature, it’s astounding to realize that up to just 15 years ago, you would have risked your life taking that very same path, as that region and many more in the world, were covered with land mines.
Today, we are extremely honored to introduce you to Heidi Kuhn, one of our treasured speakers at the upcoming HEALING SUMMIT in Portugal.
Founder & CEO Roots of Peace
Heidi Kuhn received the inaugural EARTH ETHICS award by Marcus Nobel, nephew of Alfred Nobel, at the United Nations on September 21, 2018.
She envisions the “grapevine” as a symbol of hope—reminding global citizens of the seeds we have in common rather than those which separate us. The planting of a grapevine is a time-honored symbol of hope as generational wisdom reminds us that regardless of the political ideologies of our mind, the color of our hand or the faith in our hearts—a seed will grow when nurtured and cultivated.
Heidi and the mission she has passionately embarked upon are quite extraordinary-she has spent the last 20 years of her life dedicated to removing hidden landmines from affected lands, from Crotia to Vietnam, a dangerous prospect for sure, but one that is essential to restore these areas of the earth.
Heidi was deeply inspired in September 1997 to create an organization dedicated to the eradication of landmines worldwide.
Heidi, and her team has helped to clear over 70 million landmines from over 70 countries.
Heidi has evidence of how the efforts of Roots of Peace has made a profound difference and has provided opportunities for restoration all over the globe.
Heidi explains “In 2000, I walked the minefields of Croatia where over 1.2 million landmines were planted after The Balkan War. Working closely with Napa Valley vintner Miljenko ‘Mike’ Grgich, we removed landmines in his beloved homeland and planted bountiful grapevines.
But there is more work to be done in other countries. Heidi firmly believes that by convening at the HEALING SUMMIT, together we can create solutions for world problems like those that Roots of Peace address.
Let us pause for a moment! Considering that 150 changes makers from all over the world are coming together. What else is possible?
We are so looking forward to seeing you at the HEALING SUMMIT.
