Prof. Gerry Bodeker

A Harvard-trained public health academic, Prof. Gerry Bodeker researches and advises on integrative medicine and wellness. He has specialized in Asian traditions of medicine and healthy lifestyles, the study of Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine and Southeast Asian health traditions. He is a founding editorial board member of the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine and serves as Chair of the Ayurveda Advisory Group to the AYUS Chair of Ayurveda at the University of Western Sydney, Australia. Gerry has researched and taught in medical sciences at Oxford University for two decades, is adjunct professor of epidemiology at Columbia University, and works with the wellness sector, governments and UN advising on culturally-themed wellness strategies. He has published widely, including the “The World Health Organization Global Atlas of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine”.

He currently serves as Chair of the Mental Wellness Initiative of the Global Wellness Institute and chairman of the Global Initiative for Traditional Systems of Health (GIFTS of Health). He is co-founder of the forest immersion wellness destination program with the Marriott Group – Ayus Wellness, Mulu, Malaysian Borneo and serves as senior advisor on the leading wellness destination in the Maldives, Joali Being.
